Mighty Earth RRR22 alleged deforestation by Usaha Agro Indonesia (UAI), where a total of 84 hectares of forest were cleared between 27 June – 15 November 2019. |
| We contacted Sampoerna Agro to seek clarification. | |
| Sampoerna Agro clarified that the alleged area was not cleared by UAI, but was owned and burned by the local community which is located inside UAI’s concession. However, the land owner does not want to be compensated by the company.
Sampoerna Agro has committed to not deforesting and clearing peatlands. Based on the above statement we consider the Mighty Earth Report 22 case is resolved. |
