Singapore – The Musim Mas Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Oliver Zhen Li from the National University of Singapore (NUS), as the Musim Mas Professor of Sustainability with effect from 1 April 2016.
Professor Li received his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Arizona. He is currently a Ph.D Programme Director with NUS and also holds Directorship with the China Business Centre.
Professor Li worked with the China Ministry of Environmental Protection on a number of pollution and sustainability projects, such as the impact of air pollution on China’s stock market performance. The main findings of this research were featured in the South China Morning Post in 2015.
A notable paper by Professor Li, et al, published on the Accounting Review examines how CSR performance and disclosure enhance their financial capabilities and reduce capital costs. He is currently focused on exploring the intricate balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability, and will be channeling more time and effort in furthering sustainability-related research and education within the next five years of his tenure.
In 2010, The Musim Mas Group established an endowment Professorship in Sustainability at the NUS Business School as a commitment towards the development of Sustainability, to enhance the literature for sustainability management in Asia. The Professorship will be used to fund research and to educate future business leaders so that they may contribute meaningfully to sustainability. It will enable NUS Business School to elevate the study of sustainable development to higher levels and complement the existing strength of the School in social entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
