Singapore – Musim Mas Group today announces a strategic partnership with the CORE consortium of sustainability organisations, each with their different areas of expertise that combines to provide a holistic range of services for the Group’s sustainability work. The consortium consists of Proforest, Rainforest Alliance and Daemeter Consulting.
Following the announcement of its Sustainability Policy in December 2014, Musim Mas has completed its 100% mill-level traceability, ahead of the publicly announced schedule by end 2015. Central to affirming the integrity of the traceability exercise, independent verification by the CORE consortium will be undertaken; selected verification activities will be carried out to confirm that the traceability information is reliable and comprehensive. The consortium will also support Musim Mas’ overall implementation of its Sustainability Policy and act as an independent party to assess the Group’s third-party suppliers’ compliance with the Policy.
Proforest specialises in the implementation of sustainability commitments related to the responsible production and sourcing of agricultural commodities and forest products. Proforest will provide strategic guidance for this partnership as the project lead.
An authority on forest conservation and certification, Rainforest Alliance has its expertise in the management of natural resource-based economic activities. With the partnership, Musim Mas looks forward to learn more from Rainforest Alliance’s experience in site verification and landscape level approaches.
Daemeter Consulting will complement the consortium with its experience in social and environmental due diligence, specifically on risk analysis and supplier engagement.
Together, the consortium will provide the invaluable expertise and combined experience to support the Group’s supply chain verification process at all levels and deliver the Group’s Sustainability Policy’s commitments.
