Singapore – Musim Mas is the latest member to join the China Sustainable Palm Oil Alliance (The Alliance), a platform to promote sustainable Palm Oil in China that was newly launched on July 2018.
The Alliance was jointly launched by Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Members of the Alliance include key companies in the Palm Oil supply chain, such as Mars Wrigley Confectionery, L’Oréal China, AarhusKarlshamn (AAK), Cargill China and other stakeholders, such as HSBC.
Our membership comes at an opportune time to make sustainable Palm Oil the norm in China, the second largest importing country of Palm Oil .
China has been playing a bigger role in sustainability, including an active role in meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change mitigation and adaptation at global, regional and local levels. Promoting sustainable Palm Oil is especially crucial to China as 75% of its Palm Oil is used in the food sector, therefore it is closely tied to China’s food security and food safety.
Together with the other Alliance members, we envision for sustainable Palm Oil to become a norm in China, and help drive the conversations around sustainable Palm Oil .
Musim Mas is also committed to sharing our best practices and progress with the Alliance members, in a bid to advance the sustainability agenda within the industry.
